SUBMISSIONS
Lyric & Stone currently publishes high quality children's picture books, with plans to broaden our scope to include other genre's through multiple new imprints.
NOTICE:
We are not currently accepting new submissions for potential book publication. Any manuscripts sent to us at this time will not be reviewed, sent back or replied to.
During open reading periods, manuscripts maybe take 4 to 6 months to review, or even longer. While we will make every attempt to read all manuscripts that we receive, there are no guarantees that we will be able to review all submissions. Phone calls or emails inquiring about the status of your submission will not speed up the process, and we will only get back to authors that we are interested in publishing.
Thank you in advance for your understanding.
WHAT WE PUBLISH
Lyric & Stone is very selective in the books that we publish, choosing to value the quality of our titles over the quantity of them. We therefore only publish stories that we feel stand above others in the marketplace, with unique and memorable characters, intriguing plot lines, and and underlying message ior moral that is more subtle than it is obvious. Currently, our focus is on children's picture books, but are expanding out to chapter books for older kids and have plans for pushing into books that are aimed at adults. And while our audience may expand, and our genres may broaden, our current philosophy of only publishing higher-end work will always remain our primary focus.
WHAT WE DO NOT PUBLISH
Not every publisher is the right fit for every authors, and vice-versa. You may have the best manuscript in the world, but we may not have the right sales avenues for it, and so as much as it might pain us, we simply can't publish everybody's story.
Currently, our focus is on children's picture books, particularly those that have the potential to be used in elementary school classrooms as well as in the home. While we are anxious to expand into other genre's and reach a broader audience, we are currently not ready to pursue titles not strictly aimed at children.
Within that realm, we are not interested in books that cover somewhat common ground, such as books with an anti-bullying message. We are also not interested in publishing books with a moral or message that is so obvious that it overwhelms the story.
Lastly, we do not publish books that have already been published elsewhere or self-published, unless we have reached out to you specifically for this purpose.
SUBMITTING YOUR MANUSCRIPT
The best way to submit your manuscript and get our attention is to do it through a literary agent. However, you are invited to submit your book directly to us if you would prefer.
Please note that Lyric & Stone cannot sign NDAs, nor can we assure that we are not currently, nor will not ever, publish stories that may be similar to the one that you submit, even if we have rejected or not responded to your particular manuscript.
The authors that we choose to work with need to provide more than just a manuscript - your ideas behind the book and ability to market it matter as well.
Please download the Submission Document, and sent it, along with a PDF file of your manuscript, to submissions@lyricandstone.com.
